According to Kyiv’s defense ministry, Ukraine sank the submarine in Russian-controlled Sevastopol, Crimea’s main city, during an attack on Saturday.
The B-237 Rostov-on-Don attack submarine was dispatched “to the bottom of the Black Sea,” Ukrainian military said.
They also stated that four launchers of the Russian S-400 anti-aircraft Triumf defense system were severely damaged in the same attack.
Ukrainian drone strikes began hours later, according to Russian officials.
In a statement issued Saturday evening, Russia’s defense ministry said 75 Ukrainian drones were “intercepted and destroyed” above a number of localities on or near the two countries’ border.
According to the ministry, 36 drones were destroyed above Rostov, but the region’s governor reported that 55 drones were struck and that “warehouse facilities” in the Morozovsk and Kamensky districts were damaged in the strikes.
Ukraine’s general staff then stated that its forces attacked an airfield in Morozovsk, where they used guided air bombs to destroy ammunition stores, as well as fuel depots in Belgorod, Kursk, and Rostov.
The drone attacks are the latest use of weapons to strike targets within Russia. The West gave Ukraine a partial green light to employ some weapons over the border in June.
