BULAWAYO: Corbin Bosch's all-around skill and rookie Lhuan-dre Pretorius's record-breaking century helped South Africa defeat Zimbabwe by a resounding 328 runs in the opening Test match. In the first Test of the two-match series, the home team's batting line collapsed on a pitiful 208 runs while chasing a difficult 537-run goal. Bosch removed the number three batsman on the first ball of the day, giving Zimbabwe the worst possible start as they attempted to rally from 32-1 through opener Prince Masvaure and Nick Welch (0). Following the early blow, Masvaure was joined by first-innings centurion Sean Williams for a short 32-run partnership.

Russian and Ukrainian ally Alexander Lukashenko calls for a halt to hostilities.

Vladimir Putin's main ally has encouraged Russia and Ukraine to discuss a settlement to the crisis, while Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, announced that his troops had taken control of a strategically important Russian town.

The remarks were delivered by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during a comprehensive interview with Russian state television in the midst of Ukraine’s continuous border incursion, which began on August 6.
According to Mr. Lukashenko, only “high-ranking people of American origin” supported the prolongation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

He continued by saying that Kyiv was being encouraged to fight by the West because it wants Russia and Ukraine to “destroy each other”.

Additionally, the president of Belarus stated that Minsk would not permit Ukrainian soldiers to “trample on our sovereignty” and suggested that Kyiv may be planning an invasion of Belarus without supplying any proof.

Since the Russian president gave the order for the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, which was partially staged from Belarusian territory, Mr. Lukashenko has positioned himself as Mr. Putin’s major ally.

Moscow has insisted that any peace negotiations must be contingent on Ukraine relinquishing land worth a fifth of its total area, the majority of which was taken by Russian soldiers.

According to Ukraine, negotiations would be ready to begin as long as the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty are completely upheld.

As Mr. Zelenskyy announced that the Ukrainian military had complete control over Sudzha, Mr. Lukashenko made his remarks. Since the beginning of their cross-border incursion, it has been the largest Russian town to fall into Ukrainian hands.
