ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan United Nations Network on Migration (UNNM) was formally established by the United Nations (UN) in Pakistan on Monday in an effort to improve “migration governance” and fight the threat of “human trafficking”.
The launch is a major step toward a coordinated, cooperative approach to migration governance and addressing the intertwined problems of migrant smuggling and human trafficking.
The action is in line with global frameworks such as the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration (GCM) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Every year, hundreds of Pakistanis flee the nation via unlawful means in pursuit of a better future; some of them perish in traffic accidents.
