According to The News, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Ministry of Finance to apply for International Monetary Fund (IMF) assistance in the form of power bills for towns impacted by flooding nationwide.
Official sources claim that the prime minister ordered the ministry to begin discussions with the IMF about offering residents in flood-affected districts a one-month electricity bill exemption.
He emphasized how urgent the situation is and urged the finance minister to contact the IMF as soon as possible in order to obtain the relief, which is meant to give those impacted by the recent floods immediate aid.
According to officials, the proposed relief will provide widespread aid to households affected by the tragedy in all flood-affected areas, whether they are urban or rural.
