At Yamama Palace on Wednesday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to talk about strengthening the two countries’ complex relationship, which is based on common strategic, economic, and Islamic links.
The crown prince and Riyadh Deputy Governor Muhammad bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz welcomed Shehbaz with a guard of honor upon his arrival, according to state-run PTV News. The prime minister’s plane was escorted into Saudi airspace by the Saudi Air Force’s F-15 fighters as a show of goodwill. PTV characterized this action as a demonstration of “brotherly love and respect,” attributing it to Sharif’s diplomatic efforts and the accomplishments of Pakistan’s military.
The crown prince invited Shehbaz Sharif to visit, according to the Foreign Office.
