A week after a handshake dispute marred their most recent match, India and Pakistan will square off again in the Asia Cup on Sunday, reigniting one of cricket’s most intense rivalries.
India infuriated Pakistan by refusing to shake hands with their opponents after winning the group match in Dubai on September 14 by seven wickets.
It was the first time the neighbors had met since over 70 people were killed in a four-day armed confrontation in May.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) received a protest from the Pakistan Cricket Board, claiming that referee Andy Pycroft had instructed captain Salman Agha not to shake hands with Indian counterpart Suryakumar Yadav at the toss.
