David Letterman claims that when his program was taken off the air, he spoke with Jimmy Kimmel by text message.
When the news broke, Letterman claimed to have discovered Kimmel “sitting up in bed taking nourishment.”
Speaking at The Atlantic Festival in New York City, Letterman said, “He’s going to be fine.”
Letterman said that the suspension was “ridiculous” and that you cannot fire someone in order to please an authoritarian government. This isn’t how it operates.
He pointed out that his own late-night program had “mercilessly” and incident-free ridiculed six presidents.
Following criticism from prominent broadcasters, Sinclair Media demanded that ABC fulfill three requirements in order to lift the suspension: discuss accountability with Sinclair.
