According to DeepState, a Ukrainian battlefield research website near the country’s defense ministry, the POWs were shot on October 10 in Kursk, a territory in Russia where Kyiv started an invasion in August.
International organizations have been urged to react by Ukraine’s human rights ombudsman.

In a Telegram message, Dmytro Lubinets called the claim “another crime committed by the Russians” and stated that he had written to the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross about it.

Russian officials did not respond right away.

In the meantime, the Ukrainian air force reported on Sunday that 31 of the 68 drones that Russia had launched overnight at Ukraine in the Kyiv, Poltava, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Cherkasy districts had been shot down by its air defenses.

It claimed that a further 36 drones were “lost” over different regions, most likely due to electronic jamming.

The air force also said that a guided air missile attacked Chernihiv and Sumy, while ballistic missiles hit Odesa and Poltava. No damage or casualties were reported by the local authorities.
