ISLAMABAD: In order to prevent their neighbors from overhearing their Afghan mother tongue, Shayma and her family attempt to speak quietly in their safehouse in Pakistan.
No one would suspect that she is a 15-year-old immigrant in hiding, yet she can sing Bob Dylan’s “The Times They Are a-Changin'” whenever she wants.
“In the kitchen, the sound is very good,” she and her sister and other young band members told AFP.
Shayma ought to have been evaluating the acoustics of her new New York house by now.
However, US President Donald Trump indefinitely halted refugee admissions prior to her family’s planned February departure, leaving over 15,000 Afghans who were set to depart Islamabad stranded.
