NEW DELHI: Months after unmanned aerial systems (UAS) were widely used in a confrontation with Pakistan, a top commander said Tuesday that India’s military will test drone and counter drone systems next month in a significant exercise to strengthen its air defenses.
In what experts refer to as a drone weapons race, both neighboring nations have increased drone development since the four-day conflict. By 2035, India also intends to construct its own air defense system, called the “Sudarshan Chakra,” which officials have compared to Israel’s “Iron Dome.”
