The Jets’ last possession resulted in four penalties, including offsetting fouls. Eventually, as cornerback Taron Johnson attempted to target Mike Williams, Aaron Rodgers threw an interception to him.
Both teams were destroyed by penalties like that, and the NFL community took notice. Throughout the game, 11 penalties were called on each team. While the Jets committed 11 penalties for 110 yards, the Bills committed 11 games for 94 yards.
Josh Allen ultimately ran for a first down to continue their last drive. Buffalo knelt.
The final two quarters saw just three scores from each team, despite the Bills leading 20–17 at the half.
With 215 passing yards and two touchdown passes—one to Mack Hollins and one to Dawson Knox—Allen finished 19 of 25. On the ground, he scored a touchdown after running 18 yards.
Ray Davis, a running back for the Bills, led the club with 20 carries and 97 rushing yards. In addition, he caught three passes for 55 yards. Their only receptions during the game were touchdown catches by Knox and Hollins.
Just before halftime, Rodgers made an unlikely Hail Mary touchdown pass to keep the Jets in the game. However, in the second half, the glitz and glamour faded.
