Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan-Fazl (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who is seen as the final obstacle to the highly publicized constitutional revisions, made hints on Monday that he was getting close to reaching an agreement with the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Among other things, the constitutional package intends to establish a federal constitutional court and impose a three-year term limit for the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP).
Last month, the administration tried to introduce a measure to modify the Constitution, but members of the opposition benches and its allies fiercely opposed the idea, compelling the ruling party to start a consultation process.
