At the Economic Club of Chicago, Trump sat for an interview with John Micklethwait, editor-in-chief of Bloomberg News. In a contentious conversation that lasted almost an hour, the two talked about Trump’s economic ambitions for a possible second term.
Micklethwait began by discussing the health of the economy before asking the former president which state he thought would have the biggest impact on the outcome of the election.
Pennsylvania, they say. We’re doing great there, in my opinion. I believe you consider Michigan as well, and I’m doing great,” Trump remarked. “We’re in Pennsylvania, way up there.
We’re in Michigan, way up there. In Arizona, we’re doing great. As it appears that we have a long way to go, someone even stated that they are going to abandon Arizona and pull the plug.
As of Tuesday afternoon, a RealClearPolitics polling average indicated that Trump was somewhat ahead in Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Michigan.
The Republican Party is “the party of common sense,” Trump continued.
Liberals, forget about conservatives. We consider ourselves conservative, but our true stance is that we need borders. Elections must be fair. Men shouldn’t participate in women’s sports. Transgender surgeries should not be performed without parental approval. Trump clarified. 99.9% of it is common sense. It’s common sense, really.
