A government report released on Friday stated that 51 people had died in Vietnam as a result of Typhoon Bualoi and the flooding it caused, and the central bank asked banks to assist impacted companies.
In addition to bringing massive sea surges, powerful winds, and torrential rains, Bualoi made landfall in northern central Vietnam on Monday, leaving 164 people injured and 14 people missing, the government’s disaster management office reported.
Additionally, the government increased its estimate of the amount of property damage caused by the typhoon and associated flooding from $435.8 million in a prior report released on Thursday to 15.9 trillion dong ($603 million).
