The military’s propaganda wing released a statement on Saturday warning that senior Indian security officials’ “provocative and jingoistic remarks” run the risk of creating pretexts for action and could result in “cataclysmic devastation.”
Such statements, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), indicated a fresh effort to create arbitrary pretexts for attack, which would have “serious consequences for peace and stability in South Asia.”
The Pakistan Army made the comments in response to offensive statements made by Indian military leaders during a four-day armed confrontation in May of this year, which increased tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi.
Five F-16 and JF-17 fighter jets from Pakistan were shot down by India, according to Indian Air Force Chief Amar Preet Singh a day earlier.
