Ahsan Iqbal, the minister of planning, stated on Wednesday that polarization in the judiciary is impossible.
“There was a need to appoint the minimally controversial chief justice in the Supreme Court,” Iqbal said in response to Justice Yahya Afridi’s appointment as Pakistan’s next chief justice.
“The apex court had appointed the chief justice who was required to lead,” he continued.
Iqbal emphasized the appointment of judges in the US and India by stating: “The US Congress must approve the appointment of judges. In the meanwhile, the parliament has the authority to select judges.
He went on to say that “Indian lawmakers can even hold the judges accountable.”
