A tragic railway accident in southwest China claimed 11 lives on Thursday after a train conducting seismic equipment testing struck a group of construction workers at Luoyang Town Station in Kunming, Yunnan.
According to the Kunming Railway Bureau, the train was traveling through a curved section of the station when it unexpectedly collided with workers who had entered the track area, resulting in 11 deaths and two injuries. The injured workers are currently receiving medical treatment.
Authorities confirmed that rail services were restored by midday, while an investigation is underway to determine what led to the workers being on the active track.
Industrial accidents remain a recurring issue in China, often linked to weak safety enforcement and unclear operational regulations.
