Tom Hardy has opened up about the intense physical challenges he’s been battling after spending decades in high-impact action roles.
The 48-year-old actor, known for his extreme transformations and fearless stunt work, revealed that years of punishing training have left him dealing with serious injuries. Hardy shared that he has undergone two knee surgeries, suffers from a herniated disc and sciatica, and has endured a torn hip tendon along with painful plantar fasciitis.
“It feels like everything is falling apart — and it’s not getting any better,” the Havoc star admitted.
Despite the setbacks, Hardy continues to push his limits for the characters he loves. From intense fight scenes in the Venom trilogy to full-throttle action in The Bikeriders, he has always committed physically to his craft.
Hardy is also well-known for his dramatic body transformations — including gaining 35 pounds in just five weeks for Bronson and bulking up to play Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. However, he now acknowledges that these rapid changes carry long-term consequences, especially when the body is pushed beyond its limits.
Fatherhood has become a grounding force for Hardy. With one son from a previous relationship and two children with wife Charlotte Riley, he says being a dad has given him purpose and made him rethink how he treats his body.
In 2025, Hardy stayed as busy as ever, leading the action-packed film Havoc as detective Walker and starring in the crime series MobLand as clever fixer Harry Da Souza.
