The Batman Part Two is moving forward with a major change behind the scenes. Greig Fraser, the cinematographer of the first film, has stepped away to focus on Sam Mendes’ upcoming Beatles projects. Taking over is Oscar-winning Erik Messerschmidt.
Messerschmidt, known for his work with David Fincher on Mindhunter, Mank, and The Killer, is celebrated for a clean, focused style full of mood—perfect for the dark, grounded world Matt Reeves created in the first movie. He is expected to join the sequel after finishing Fincher’s The Adventures of Cliff Booth in January 2026.
Filming is set for early 2026, likely between February and March. Fans and insiders are excited, noting that Messerschmidt’s approach will maintain the striking visual tone Fraser established, which earned global praise. Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, though the villain and new cast members have yet to be announced.
