According to CDC data, the Keystone State accounts for over 30% of all illnesses in the country. The country’s measles count is probably far higher, according to an infectious disease expert, who also pointed out that Pennsylvania in particular has had trouble containing the outbreak. Andrew Pavia, MD, stated, “We need the resources, but early and intense action is probably the tool we need.”

US Measles Cases Surge to 4,588

The most recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there have been 4,588 confirmed cases of measles in the United States, more than double the level from the previous year. Over the last two weeks, 508 new cases of measles have been confirmed, with an additional 178 instances recorded this week. That is higher than the 465 measles cases that were documented in the country between 2022 and 2024. (Dall and Szabo, October 23)

Florida Dengue Cases Surpass 400

Dengue fever cases in Pinellas County, Florida, are still on the rise, and the state’s outbreak doesn’t appear to be abating. Since the start of the year, 425 locally acquired dengue fevers have been recorded throughout the state of Florida, with Hillsborough County accounting for the majority of these cases.

Sarasota Dengue Case Raises Reporting Concerns

A woman from Sarasota County had dengue. Local Authorities Didn’t Consider Her Case

The disparity calls into question whether the state’s official statistics appropriately represent the risk of transmission in the county and how the Department of Health identifies the origin of illnesses.
