Burberry has announced two major internal promotions as the company continues its turnaround strategy. The luxury brand has appointed Matteo Calonaci as its new Chief Operating and Supply Chain Officer and Johnattan Leon as its new Chief Customer Officer.
Calonaci previously served as SVP of Strategy and Transformation. In his new role, he will lead supply chain and planning, strategy and transformation, and data and analytics. He replaces Klaus Bierbrauer, who will depart after Burberry’s winter show and a transition period.
Johnattan Leon, who currently serves as SVP of Commercial and Chief of Staff, will now oversee customer strategy, client engagement, customer service, and retail excellence. He will also manage the brand’s digital, outlet, and commercial operations.
Both leaders will join Burberry’s executive committee and report directly to CEO Joshua Schulman.
Schulman praised the promotions, saying the appointments highlight the strong talent within Burberry. He noted that both Calonaci and Leon have played key roles in improving execution and elevating the customer experience. Their deep understanding of the business, he added, will help advance the company’s Burberry Forward strategy.
