Jimmy Kimmel has officially extended his contract with ABC for another year, months after his show faced a temporary suspension. The Emmy-winning host announced the news on Instagram on December 8, joking, “I am pleased to announce another no-talent year!”
The announcement also came during the opening monologue of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which featured guests Teyana Taylor and Quinta Brunson. After mocking Donald Trump’s hosting at the Kennedy Centre Honors the night before, Kimmel shared one last piece of news that was sure to irritate the former president.
Explaining his decision, Kimmel added humorously, “I was giving a lot of thought and decided I would like to spend less time with my family. To our audience here and at home, I’m honored and humbled to be part of your routine… It means a lot to have your attention and to work with this amazing team for another year.”
Earlier this year, ABC temporarily pulled Jimmy Kimmel Live! after a monologue referencing Charlie Kirk’s suspected killer. The move placed Kimmel in the middle of a heated political debate.
