Randy Havens, who plays science teacher Scott Clarke on Stranger Things, has pushed back on claims of a hidden extended cut of the show’s final season.
On Instagram, Havens wrote, “Please don’t believe everything some random [expletive] tells you on the internet.” He stressed there is no equivalent to the “Snyder Cut” of Justice League for Stranger Things.
The comments followed a fan-made Google Doc that suggested certain storylines had been shortened. This sparked a Change.org petition demanding Netflix release unseen footage. The petition description claimed, “I believe it was more to the episodes and we didn’t see them either due to Netflix or the team of Stranger Things cutting them.” It has gained over 316,000 signatures.
Netflix has not responded to the claims.
The fifth season, which drops on Wednesday, has received mixed reactions from viewers and critics. It currently holds a 56% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on over 5,000 ratings.
Havens has appeared in 14 episodes of Stranger Things and also acted in AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire and NBC’s Grosse Pointe Garden Society.
