A clash of styles is expected in the Australian Open final between world number Aryna Sablalenka and fifth seed Elena Rybakina. The two players have explosive power, and both are able to serve with deadly accuracy. However, their styles could not be any more different. The case of Sabalenka Sabalenka is a hard court specialist, as her Melbourne record proves. It is no surprise that she has two of four Grand Slam titles in singles here. She's widely regarded as the favourite. Belarusian aggressiveness can demolish even the best-prepared defenders as demonstrated by her win over Elina Svitolina in their semi-final. Rybakina, however, requires more than just raw strength to defeat her. Sabalenka is working on improving her variety, playing forward towards the net and utilizing deft touch to overcome opponents. Her shots are flat, heavy and deep. Sabalenka acknowledged that the material was not an easy one to work with. Sabalenka has a slight advantage over Rybakina in the past, having won eight out of 14 matches, including 2023's Australian Open final. Sabalenka lost their most recent meeting, at the WTA Finals. Pat Cash, the 1987 Wimbledon winner, said: "Sabalenka is a little more powerful and can force Rybakina to areas that she does not want to be. But it's close." The pace of the two players will be fascinating to watch. Sabalenka has always been a consistent player. Sabalenka has been to seven straight major hard court finals. She is only Steffigraf and Martina Hingis who have achieved this feat. Four years in a row, she has reached the Australian Open Finals. This shows her dominance. She acknowledges that she needs to convert consistency into trophy wins. The last year taught me a lot. "I'm prepared to fight this season with all I have," said she. Rybakina: The Case for Rybakina Rybakina is often overlooked because of her calm and understated manner. In this tournament, the 26-year old Kazakh reminded her fans of how good she is. She has not been able to achieve the same heights as she did in 2022. She hasn't played in a Grand Slam since she lost to Sabalenka three years ago. Rybakina's results might not match those of top players such as Sabalenka or Iga Swiatek. Coco Gauff has also steadily improved her game throughout the last two weeks. She said, "The serve may not work the way I would like it to. I have to concentrate on other aspects of my game." I'm trying my best to remain calm and think during the game. "So far it seems to be working." Sabalenka could have a tough time coping with Rybakina if she loses her composure. This final is unpredictable because of her ability to remain calm under pressure. Who will blink first? The Australian Open final may come down to the mental as well as the physical strength of both players. Sabalenka is a player with experience, firepower and calmness. Rybakina provides consistency and calm. Tennis fans should expect an exciting, high-octane match.
Power vs Power: Will Rybakina or Sabalenka Blink First in the Australian Open Final?

Overview

Since returning to office, President Donald Trump has pushed forward a string of high profile design changes across the White House and other major Washington landmarks. His latest announcement involves the Trump Kennedy Center, which he says will shut down later this year for a major two year renovation.

Trump said the decision followed a yearlong review with contractors, arts professionals, and advisers. He also claimed the closure will allow renovations to be completed faster and with better results than if the venue stayed open during construction. However, details remain unclear, including what exactly will be renovated, how much it will cost, and what will happen to scheduled performances.

Trump Kennedy Center to Close for Two Years

Trump revealed on Truth Social that the Trump Kennedy Center will temporarily close for renovations. The renovation is expected to take two years.

So far, there is no official breakdown of the construction plan. The cost estimate has also not been released. It is also unknown whether performances will be canceled, moved, or rescheduled.

“Arc de Trump” Monument Planned for America’s 250th Anniversary

Another major project is a new monument called the “Arc de Trump.” Trump unveiled the plan in October, saying it will honor the nation’s 250th anniversary next year.

Trump described being shown three models of the arch, small, medium, and large. He said he prefers the biggest option. If that design is selected, the arch could reach 250 feet tall. That would make it taller than the Lincoln Memorial and close in height to the U.S. Capitol dome.

The monument is designed as a near replica of Paris’s Arc de Triomphe. It would sit near Memorial Bridge, welcoming visitors traveling from Arlington National Cemetery into Washington.

The Oval Office Gets a Gold Heavy Redesign

Inside the Oval Office, Trump has added gold accents throughout the room. The gilded look includes decorative trim along the ceiling, gold framing around doorways, and even gold detailing on cherubs inside the frames.

Trump previously said the Oval Office needed more energy and life. He also claimed gold paint cannot match real gold. A White House spokesperson said the materials used are high quality. They also stated Trump paid for the gold details himself, though the total cost has not been shared.

White House “Presidential Walk of Fame”

Outside the Oval Office, the administration introduced a “Presidential Walk of Fame.” It features portraits of former presidents along the West Wing colonnade.

One detail that drew attention was former President Joe Biden’s portrait. Instead of a traditional signature, it shows an autopen signature. The walkway also includes large mirrors in gold frames, continuing the luxury theme.

Lincoln Bathroom Renovation

Trump also said he renovated the Lincoln bathroom. He claimed the previous design, added in the 1940s, used green Art Deco tile that did not fit the Lincoln era.

According to Trump, the bathroom now features polished black and white statuary marble. No official renovation cost has been provided.

A New White House Ballroom Under Construction

One of the biggest projects underway is a massive White House ballroom. The planned ballroom is expected to cover 90,000 square feet and hold about 650 seated guests.

The White House currently does not have a formal ballroom, and officials say major events often require large outdoor tents. The new ballroom will replace the East Wing. Construction has started, and the cost is estimated at over $200 million. Trump and private donors are expected to finance it.

New Flagpoles and Rose Garden Changes

Ahead of Independence Day, Trump also funded the installation of two 88 foot flagpoles on the White House grounds. Each flagpole reportedly cost about $50,000.

In addition, Trump directed the placement of stone pavers in the Rose Garden lawn. The change is meant to make the space more suitable for press events and ceremonies.

Previous Article Exercise Snacking: What Is It? Some people don't enjoy the gym, spinning classes, or running. Exercise snacking is a simple way to keep fit if that describes you. Jo Blodgett's research at University College London shows how short bursts can improve your health. It's called "vigorous Intermittent Lifestyle Physical Activity" (VILPA). It's simply adding short periods of effort into your daily routines. Simple Exercise Snacks for Everyone No special equipment or membership is required. Blodgett suggests: Use the elevator: Do not use the lift until you have walked two floors. Leave the bus earlier: walk quickly to the final stop instead of remaining seated. Increase the speed of your walk: Walk faster between lampposts. Three or four bursts lasting between one and two minutes are enough to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. They can also increase life expectancy. Quit Being a Couch Potato Even though regular exercise or sports on weekends are good, they can't compensate for long periods spent sitting. Blodgett describes many of us as "active couch potatos." She suggests: Get up and move around: Stop working for 15-30 minutes every hour. Take a walk during your lunch break: Instead of using your smartphone to scroll through the rest of the time, spend half your lunch walking. Walking while on the phone, or casual conversations. The small adjustments can have a big impact, particularly if you spend most of your day seated. Sedentary time can be reduced The majority of health recommendations focus on the amount of vigorous exercise that you should be doing. Blodgett proposes a flip: focusing on decreasing inactive time. Get moving more. Spend less time sitting than 8 hours per day. Promote kids' physical activity: Do not keep children in car seats or pushchairs for longer than one hour. Do your daily chores: Mow the lawn or clean up around your house. This improves strength and balance. It is simple to understand: The more you exercise, the healthier your body will be.
