The recent spike in terrorist assaults in Pakistan, which included the ambush on a military convoy close to the Afghan border and the kidnapping of seven police officers in Bannu, was denounced by the US.
Matthew Miller, a spokesman for the US State Department, pledged ongoing counterterrorism cooperation and expressed support with Pakistan, underlining the nation’s ongoing fight against terrorism.
“We denounce these and all acts of terrorism,” Miller said during a press conference. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those killed or affected by recent attacks, as the Pakistani people have suffered greatly at the hands of terrorists and violent extremists.”
Miller reaffirmed the US commitment to working with Pakistan’s institutions and government to combat the threat posed by militants.
