KATHMANDU: According to a spokesman for the armed police of the Himalayan nation, half of the 43 Indians on board a bus perished on Friday after the vehicle crashed into a river swollen by rain.
Shailendra Thapa, a spokesman for the armed police, stated that the accident claimed the lives of 21 individuals and injured 22 others. She also mentioned that all 41 passengers and the two crew members were Indian and were traveling from the tourist destination of Pokhara to Kathmandu, the country’s capital.
Because the roads in the hilly area are frequently narrow and hazardous, it can be difficult for drivers to maneuver huge cars around hairpin corners.
22 persons were rescued from the rain-swollen Marsyangdi River in the Tanahun district, some 118 kilometers (73 miles) from Kathmandu.
