The 23-year-old Isaac Calderon added that, before the crash that resulted in Elizabeth Donowho suffering fractures to her hand, sternum, and both ankles, his driving was “definitely not safe”.
According to court records submitted in Texas as part of an extradition request, Mr. Calderon said, “Shit,” when West Mercia Police showed him dashcam footage of the event.
Later, he requested that an officer inform Ms. Donowho that he had been “vaping in the car” and that he was “really sorry.”
The identity of Mr. Calderon’s employer remains a mystery, even after Ms. Donowho was informed by the police that he had been to the British special.
A copy of Mr. Calderon’s US “Uniformed Services” identity card is included in the paperwork, however he claimed to be traveling for “personal activities” at the time of the accident.
It further said that before the July 31, 2018, crash on the A4103 at Shucknall, Herefordshire, “multiple witnesses” had seen him pass many cars quickly.
A warrant for his arrest was issued in December after he failed to appear before Kidderminster magistrates last November on charges of driving recklessly and causing serious injury. However, by then, he had already returned to the United States.
