Since taking power in 2021, the Taliban’s limitations on women’s employment and education in Afghanistan have created serious economic and social problems. The Taliban leadership has declared that preventing women from attending university or professional schools is un-Islamic, and this ban on secondary education for girls has an impact on more than a million pupils.
UNICEF claims that the prohibition on girls attending school has cost Afghanistan’s economy more than $500 million in the last 12 months. According to Afghan media, over 14,000 government teaching positions have been removed, leaving thousands of female instructors without employment. These days, these educators are only able to work in elementary schools.
Many women have been unable to support their families because of the employment restrictions, which has led to increased unemployment rates .
