Deadpool, a 2015 video game, has been acquired by fans for as much as £116 on eBay; an undamaged copy in excellent condition sold for £330 last week.
Since it can no longer be downloaded digitally, players who wish to play it must look for physical copies.
The success of the new movie, which generated over $444 million (£345 million) in its first weekend of release, appears to be a major factor in the resurgence of interest in the game.
With Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in the title roles, Deadpool & Wolverine opened with the sixth-biggest box office debut ever.
The game was first released in 2013 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. However, the 2015 re-release is getting harder to locate without spending a lot of money.
The game received mixed reviews from critics, but it wasn’t completely negative either; review aggregator Metacritic gave it an average rating of 60 out of 100.
PriceCharting, an online media sales tracking website, states that the PS4 game, which had a suggested retail price of £49.99, can have been purchased for as little as £9 in May 2018, the month the second Deadpool movie was released.
However, since production on the game started in May 2023, the cost has increased considerably due to the excitement surrounding the third installment of the franchise and the widespread appeal of its protagonists, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
