Chelsea and PSG to Face Real Madrid in the Last 16 of Champions League Premier League clubs have been thrown into some major clashes by the Champions League draw. Chelsea takes on the holders Paris Saint-Germain while Manchester City faces Real Madrid. The knockout round will not feature any English teams. This draw will see some intense European competition across the board. Chelsea Set for PSG Showdown The meeting between Chelsea and PSG brought back the memories of the FIFA Club World Cup Final from last year. In New Jersey, the Blues beat PSG 3 to 0. The stakes have been raised. David Barnard, Chelsea's Director of Football, admitted that the task will be difficult. He made it very clear, however, that his team is confident. The focus is on one game at a time, he said. PSG will be the defending champions. Chelsea has already proven that they are capable of competing at the top level. Man City and Real Madrid renew rivalry Manchester City and Real Madrid will again face off. It is the fifth consecutive season in which the two teams have met at the knockout stages. City beat Madrid in the December league stage. This win was a new chapter in their rivalry that has been intensifying since 2022. Hugo Viana, City's director for football, described this match as an event in and of itself. The margins could be even closer because both teams are familiar with each other. Arsenal, Newcastle United, Liverpool, and Tottenham learn their fate Arsenal, the Premier League's leaders, will play Bayer Leverkusen. This is a tough draw with one of Germany’s best sides. Newcastle United takes on Barcelona. Newcastle United will be hosting the first leg of this match at their home stadium, giving them an advantage. Liverpool meet Galatasaray. Liverpool's ambassador Ian Rush thinks the atmosphere at Anfield will be decisive in the second leg. Tottenham Hotspur will face Atletico Madrid on Saturday in a battle that promises to be tactical. Important Dates for Quarter-Final Clashes The matches will be played on the 10th and 11th of March. On 17 and 18 march, the return matches are scheduled. Afghanistan-Pakistan Conflict Increases After Airstrikes in Kabul After a series of bombings that occurred in Kabul, tensions have risen between Afghanistan and Pakistan. A powerful explosion shook the District 6 residents' homes. Fear spread throughout the area as jets flew above. Pakistan conducted airstrikes in Paktia, Kandahar and Kabul. Kandahar is symbolic because it was the place where the Taliban began. These strikes were a significant escalation of the Afghanistan-Pakistan conflict. Why the latest violence? The Taliban claimed that it had launched a ground operation near the border prior to the airstrikes. The Taliban government claimed that their troops had captured and destroyed several Pakistani posts. The action was described as revenge. Kabul claims that Pakistani troops entered Afghan territory first and massacred civilians including women and kids. According to the Taliban, Pakistan has violated Afghan sovereignty. Pakistan rejects this claim. Islamabad claimed that it was militants hiding places and not civilians they were targeting. Officials said they targeted bases belonging to the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (also known as TTP). Civilians Casualties and Redisputed Claims Pakistan conducted airstrikes less than one week prior to the Kabul attack in Nangarhar, and Paktika. According to credible reports from the United Nations, 13 Afghan civilians were killed in these attacks. Pakistan claims to have solid proof that TTP militants are operating from Afghan territory. The group is blamed for the recent suicide attack on a Shia Mosque in Islamabad, which killed over 30 people. Pakistani officials claim that the TTP was responsible for the terrorist attack, despite IS claiming responsibility. The Taliban government has denied supporting any groups that pose a threat to another country. The Taliban government claims that Pakistani military action is unprovoked. Mediators who fail to reach a settlement Last major outbreak was in October 2025. For several days, both sides traded cross-border strikes. Qatar and Turkey intervened to mediate. Doha and Istanbul held talks. There was a fragile ceasefire, but tensions were never completely eased. Both governments accuse one another of not pursuing diplomatic solutions. Military Strategy and Strength Pakistan's military has distinct advantages. Pakistan has advanced tanks, fighter jets and defence systems. The Taliban regime in Afghanistan controls the military equipment that was left by foreign and Afghan forces. It is believed that the Taliban government has obtained some weapons via informal channels. Afghanistan does not have the necessary aircraft to carry out deep airstrikes in Pakistan. However, the Taliban has a long history of guerrilla war. The Taliban fought against US and NATO forces more than twenty years. It used drones in the most recent confrontation to attack Pakistani targets. Drones, which are cheap and simple to use, have changed the face of modern conflict. Limitation of access to verified information Independent verification remains difficult. Taliban restrictions on foreign journalist access, particularly in border areas. The Taliban also restrict access to Pakistan's border regions for foreign journalists. It is difficult to gauge the real scale of conflict due to the lack of transparency. The Economic and Human Impact Since October 20, 2025, the trade between these two nations has been closed. The longest trade halt in recent decades. Afghan businessmen are in a difficult situation. Access to essential goods such as medicines has become more difficult. Hunger and poverty are already a reality for many Afghans. Many Afghans felt relieved that the war on a large scale had come to an end in 2021. This fragile feeling of safety has been shattered by renewed violence. Now, the Afghanistan-Pakistan conflict threatens regional stability as well as millions of people who seek peace.

Family-Owned Soda Company Keeps Returnable Glass Bottle Tradition Alive In the US, about 127 billion plastic bottles are bought every year. Yet one Midwestern soft drink company is holding on to the old-school way of selling soda in returnable glass bottles. A Tradition Almost Lost Until the 1960s, most soda bottles in the US were designed to be returned. Customers paid a deposit for sturdy glass bottles, which they returned to stores for a refund. The bottles were then washed and refilled repeatedly. The rise of plastic bottles phased out this system, but Twig's Beverage, a family-owned company in Shawano County, Wisconsin, has kept it alive. Customers pay a $20 deposit for a case of 24 bottles. They can even visit Twig's factory in Shawano to refill bottles, some of which are over 60 years old. Nostalgia and Community Ben Hartwig, Twig's vice-president, says families have been bringing back the same bottles for generations. "Cases get passed down, and the next family member brings them in," he says. "Long-time customers love the nostalgic feel and treat these cases like gold." Some 16oz bottles still date back to the 1960s and 70s, and they continue to go through Twig's washing process today. Sun Drop and Real Sugar Established in 1951 by Floyd Hartwig, Twig's signature soda is Sun Drop, a citrus-flavored drink first developed in Missouri in the 1940s. Although US drinks giant Keurig Dr Pepper owns the brand, Twig's makes Sun Drop under license for sale in its Wisconsin territory. It is the last Sun Drop producer to use returnable glass bottles instead of plastic and one of the few still using real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. Twig's also produces its own line of fruit sodas, including root beer, black cherry, orange, and lime. While Sun Drop can only be sold in Wisconsin, Twig's is expanding its own soda brand across the Midwest. These new bottles will not be returnable due to distance, so customers outside the state are encouraged to recycle them. Family Business and Local Culture Twig's story began when Floyd Hartwig, recovering from wounds in the Korean War, conceived the soda business idea. Post-World War Two economic growth and a rise in take-home drinks helped the business flourish. In 1986, Floyd’s son Dan took over to keep the company in the family. Today, Ben Hartwig runs Twig's with his wife Annelies and brothers Jake and Luke. The company employs 20 people and earns around $6.5 million annually. Sun Drop Dayz, a local fundraiser with live music and activities, has been celebrated every June since 2017. Visitors can also tour Twig's museum to see the soda-making process firsthand. Looking Ahead Twig's continues to honor its tradition of returnable glass bottles while expanding its own soda brand in the Midwest. With a focus on nostalgia, real sugar, and community, the company blends heritage with growth.

South Africa is still unbeaten at the T20 World Cup after a convincing win against West Indies in 2026 Aiden Markram leads Proteas To Victory South Africa maintained its unbeaten record at the T20 World Cup in 2026 with a nine-wicket win over West Indies. Aiden Markram was the star of the show with 82 runs unbeaten from just 46 deliveries. Markram hit seven fours, and sixes. South Africa comfortably won by 23 balls. Markram's fifty-seven came in just 27 deliveries and he formed a 95 run partnership with Quinton de Kock. Quinton scored 47 runs from 24 balls before being dismissed by Roston Chase in the eighth over. Ryan Rickelton at number three contributed 45 runs to Quinton's partnership. South Africa has now moved two points in front of Super 8s Group 1 leader and is one step closer towards the semi-finals. Should India beat Zimbabwe on Thursday the Proteas will be assured a spot in the semis. West Indies Struggle Back, but Fail South Africa reduced West Indies to 83-7 from 83-7 following a strong start. Kagiso Naidi, Rovman and Matthew Forde were unable to stabilize the innings. Holder, Romario Shepherd and the West Indies resurrected their innings with an 89-run partnership. Holder scored 49 runs from only 31 deliveries. Shepherd scored 52 off 37 balls, finishing unbeaten. They added 58 runs in the final five overs but it wasn't enough to meet their target. South Africa's bowling dominates South Africa's bowlers made the match impossible to win by taking 4 wickets in the first 4 balls. Keshav Maharaj and Marco Jansen from India both delivered tight bowling that limited the West Indies’ late rally. Proteas nearing semi-finals South Africa is now one step closer towards the semifinals. West Indies' consistency in the Super 8 phase shows its strength. West Indies needs to win to stay competitive.
