Approximately 800 documents related to the discharging of financial responsibilities were lodged at Companies House late last month, according to a memo received by News from UK Finance, the banking trade organization.
UK Finance stated in the letter to banks that it had notified Companies House and the Department for Business and Trade about the matter, which was tagged as “Urgent” when it was distributed last week.
Though the specifics were still unknown on Sunday, business leaders raised the potential of an attempt at fraud or hacking of the Companies House record.
In its note, UK Finance stated that several law firms and members had “reported an issue about the seemingly incorrect satisfaction of security (registered charges) on Companies House pertaining to several active business clients.”
