US Hotels Fear Weak World Cup Tourism as Bookings Fall Short Tourism expectations fail to match reality US hotels are worried the upcoming World Cup will not deliver the expected tourism boost. Many host cities are reporting lower-than-expected bookings, raising doubts about the event’s economic impact. A report from the American Hotel & Lodging Association shows demand is falling behind forecasts across most locations. The group represents more than 32,000 hotel properties and a large share of franchised hotels in the United States. Conflict between booking data and ticket sales The association says hotel demand does not match FIFA’s claim that over five million tickets have already been sold. It warns that the expected financial gains from the tournament could be lower than projected. Accusations over hotel room block bookings The report also criticizes FIFA for reserving large numbers of hotel rooms in advance. According to the association, this created artificial demand and pushed prices higher in early stages of booking. Later, FIFA cancelled a significant portion of those reservations. Hotel operators say this left gaps in availability and disrupted normal pricing patterns. FIFA has rejected these claims and does not agree with the criticism. Other factors behind weak demand Hotels say several issues are discouraging visitors. High ticket prices for matches are one concern. Expensive local transport and taxes are also adding pressure. Some operators also point to political tensions as another reason international travel interest has slowed. Economic outlook remains uncertain With lower bookings and mixed signals from ticket sales, the hospitality sector is now unsure about the World Cup’s overall economic benefit. Many hotels are preparing for weaker-than-expected revenue during the tournament period.

Tom Holland is stepping into a major new role with Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic film The Odyssey. The actor, famous worldwide for playing Spider Man, says this project feels like the beginning of a new stage in his life and career. Holland describes the opportunity as a "pinch me moment" as he takes on the role of Telemachus, the son of Odysseus from Greek mythology. The actor believes the character gives him a rare chance to explore the journey of a young man searching for his identity and his missing father. Tom Holland Plays Telemachus In Christopher Nolan's Epic Film In The Odyssey, Holland portrays Telemachus, the only son of the legendary hero Odysseus. Telemachus was very young when his father left to fight in the Trojan War. Because he grew up without Odysseus, he knows his father mainly through stories about his courage, intelligence, and victories. Holland says he connected with the character because Telemachus represents youth, growth, and the search for answers. The actor, now 30, explains that this role feels special because it may be one of his final opportunities to play a younger character. A New Experience Beyond Spider Man Although Holland became a global star through the Spider Man franchise, The Odyssey allows him to explore a different kind of character. The film shows Telemachus facing challenges inside his family's palace while trying to protect his mother Penelope from unwanted attention from powerful men known as the suitors. Holland shares the screen with a talented cast, including Anne Hathaway, who plays Penelope, the wife of Odysseus and mother of Telemachus. Zendaya Joins The Film As Goddess Athena Holland's wife, Zendaya, also appears in The Odyssey as Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom. However, the couple does not share scenes together in the movie. Holland reveals that he read the script with Zendaya before production began. Later, when Christopher Nolan asked if he would be comfortable with Zendaya playing Athena, Holland supported the idea. He says the moment became a special memory for both of them. According to Holland, Zendaya reacted with a small smile before they both celebrated the news together. Tom Holland's Future With The Odyssey With The Odyssey, Tom Holland is moving beyond his superhero image and exploring a more mature acting challenge. The role of Telemachus represents a journey of family, identity, and personal growth. For Holland, the film marks an important turning point in his career and a memorable step into a new chapter.

Typhoon Maysak Floods China After Heavy Rain Breaks Dam Wall Fast Rising Floodwaters Force Villagers to Escape Heavy rainfall from Typhoon Maysak caused severe flooding in Renhe village, located in Guangxi province, southern China. The rain started on Sunday, but residents did not expect the situation to become dangerous so quickly. Within hours, rising water entered homes and covered streets. By early Monday morning, floodwater reached knee level. Later, it completely covered the first floors of many houses. Residents said the water moved faster than expected. Many families escaped without taking food or important belongings because they had little time to react. A local resident named Zhou said the flood arrived suddenly and forced villagers to leave their homes immediately. Dam Damage and Rising River Levels Create Crisis Typhoon Maysak caused rivers across Guangxi to overflow. The powerful storm also damaged dam walls, increasing the danger for nearby communities. Thousands of people have left their homes as rescue teams continue operations in flooded areas. Several villages and parts of Nanning city faced serious water damage. Some residents waited on rooftops and called for help as floodwater surrounded their homes. Officials reported that the storm caused deaths and injuries across different regions. Rescue workers continue searching affected areas and providing emergency support. Extreme Weather Spreads Across China The storm also brought dangerous weather conditions to other parts of China. Hubei province experienced strong thunderstorms and rare tornado activity hundreds of kilometres away from Guangxi. The severe weather damaged communities and disrupted daily life for many residents. Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered emergency teams to increase rescue and relief operations. Authorities in Nanning warned that more heavy rain could make rescue work difficult. Climate Concerns Increase After Severe Storm Typhoons often bring heavy rainfall to China during this period of the year. However, experts say stronger extreme weather events have become a growing concern due to climate change. China’s agriculture sector, worth trillions of dollars, faces increasing risks from floods, storms, and changing weather patterns. Typhoon Maysak marks the first major storm to hit China during the 2026 typhoon season. Officials described the storm as sudden and powerful, with intense winds and short periods of extreme rainfall. More Storm Threats Ahead Weather experts are also monitoring another powerful storm, Super Typhoon Bavi, which could affect China’s eastern coastline later this week. Authorities continue to prepare emergency plans as communities recover from the destruction caused by Typhoon Maysak. The disaster highlights the growing need for stronger flood protection systems and faster emergency responses to protect people living in high risk areas.

A two year old boy who survived six days trapped beneath the rubble of his home has become a symbol of hope in Venezuela after rescue teams pulled him to safety. His aunt has now promised to care for him while the search for his missing parents continues. Kleiber Moran was rescued from the remains of his family home in La Guaira during an overnight operation carried out by an international rescue team. His survival has inspired people across the country as thousands of families continue to face the heartbreaking effects of the devastating earthquakes. Officials described the rescue as a rare moment of hope during an ongoing disaster that has claimed thousands of lives and left many people missing. Aunt Promises to Protect Her Nephew Twenty three year old Andreína Sarmiento rushed to the hospital after learning that her nephew had been rescued alive. She said the emotional moment overwhelmed her, and she immediately traveled to be by his side. Andreína shared that she will care for Kleiber with all the love and support she can give until her sister is found. Although she has never been a mother, she said she feels responsible for protecting the young boy during this difficult time. She explained that her sister often joked that Kleiber was like her own son. Those memories now make her determination even stronger as the family waits for more news. Child Recovering Well in Hospital Doctors say Kleiber escaped without any broken bones despite spending nearly a week trapped beneath collapsed concrete. He only suffered minor scratches on his arms and legs. When he first arrived at the hospital, the toddler was frightened and cried constantly. After receiving medical care and rest, his condition improved quickly. Andreína said he now talks to her, gives her little kisses, and points to the places where he still feels pain. He is spending his recovery surrounded by toys and other children who also survived the earthquake. Search Continues for Missing Parents While the family celebrates Kleiber's remarkable survival, they remain deeply worried about his parents, Ana Luz and Carlos, who are still missing. Rescue teams continue searching through damaged buildings in the hope of finding more survivors. Every successful rescue brings renewed determination to families waiting for news of their loved ones. For Andreína, joy and sadness exist side by side. She feels grateful that her nephew survived, yet she continues to pray that her sister and brother in law will also be found alive. The rescue of the young boy has become a powerful reminder that hope can still emerge even after days beneath the rubble.
