According to a freedom of information request filed by the Press Association, 27,837 persons were found guilty of the same offense more than once in the 11 years leading up to July 20, 2024.
A total of 372 people were apprehended at least four times; four of them faced seven separate prosecutions.

The numbers pertain to the quantity of DR10 endorsements on driver’s licenses. These endorsements are granted to drivers who drive or attempt to drive while intoxicated and remain on record for 11 years after the offense.

The statistics, according to road safety organizations, show how ministers should think about making reoffenders get breathalysers installed.

Alcolocks: installed in a number of European nations, such as France, Belgium, Italy, and Denmark, they stop a car’s ignition from starting unless the driver passes a breathalyzer test.

RAC road safety spokesman Rod Dennis stated, “Something needs to change.” He described how frightening it is to witness certain members of the driving public continuing to drive while intoxicated, even after they had been pulled over by the police at least once.

The number of alcohol-related driving deaths has reached a level comparable to that of the late 1980s, indicating the need for reform.
