Funding From Dormant Member Accounts
The Channel Islands Co-operative Society has started a new Community Impact Fund using money left in dormant member accounts. The fund supports local initiatives across Jersey and Guernsey, focusing on community, environmental, and heritage development.
Members approved the use of unused balances during the 2021 Annual Members’ Meeting. The organisation committed to reinvesting this money into projects that benefit island communities.
CI Co-op said the scheme aims to turn inactive funds into direct local impact.
£69,000 Shared Across Seven Projects
In the first funding round, seven projects received a share of £69,000. Each project focuses on different community needs, from nature restoration to accessibility improvements.
Simon Matthews from CI Co-op said the programme reflects member values and community support. He described it as a step that connects local people with practical change.
Funded Projects in Jersey and Guernsey
Several organisations across both islands received grants:
- Jersey Island Geopark received £10,000 for educational materials and digital learning tools
