Clash of Titans: Here’s a list of fiercest election battles expected on Feb 8Following is the list of major electoral contests taking place on Feb 8:

As the nation gears up for the upcoming vote, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has unveiled the ultimate roster of contenders vying for the coveted seats in both the national and provincial assemblies.

There are nearly 18,000 candidates in the arena. Of these 17,816, there are 11,785 independents whereas 6,031 have affiliation with various political parties.

However, all eyes will be on constituencies where top leaders of major political parties are contesting elections.

In the absence of former prime minister Imran Khan — who is incarcerated in Adiala jail — the political campaigns for the February 8 polls lack heightened activity where the leading politicos are trying their luck.

Some prominent political figures, including Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Asfandyar Wali, are not in the run for health reasons.

However, there are several constituencies where bitter and tough bouts are being anticipated.
