James Trafford, goalkeeper for Burnley, and Rico Lewis, defender for Manchester City, were part of the England Under-21 team before being called up to the senior team.
This is Trafford’s first senior call-up. The 21-year-old assisted England in winning the Euro Under-21 last summer.
In November, Lewis, then 19 years old, made his Three Lions debut against North Macedonia.
Walker, a teammate for City, sustained an injury during the first half of Brazil’s 1-0 friendly victory at Wembley on Saturday.
Walker was replaced as captain by Manchester United’s Maguire, who left the game in the 67th minute.
Walker, Maguire, and Johnstone of Crystal Palace—all of whom were not in action on Saturday—have rejoined their respective teams.
Harry Kane of Bayern Munich and Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, a winger, are already out.
The injury to England’s first-choice striker, Harry Kane, presents an opportunity for Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney to shine.
Watkins of Aston Villa participated in the match against Brazil, while Toney of Brentford is expected to play for Belgium.
Regarding Toney, Southgate remarked, “You’ve got to bear that in mind as well. It would be his first start.”
