KARACHI: The Rawalpindi Division’s general election results for 2024 were surrounded in controversy when Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chatha made alarming admissions about abetting large-scale electoral cheating.
In a rare press appearance, Chatha declared, “We converted the losers into winners with 50,000 votes margin,” while accepting responsibility for the suspected poll rigging.
However, authorities claim that a commissioner has no role in the election process.
Sardar Nazar Abbas, the Joint Provincial Election Commissioner, told Geo.tv that he has no influence in the election process.
