The finance ministry announced on Thursday that five Chinese companies have submitted proposals to assist in Pakistan’s Panda Bond issuance.
In response to the government’s request for assistance in launching bonds in the Chinese market—of which the finance minister has previously stated might be worth up to $300 million—three Chinese law firms and two credit agencies have placed bids.
The statement said that two Pakistani businesses had also submitted applications and that the government was evaluating the offers before making a decision “in due course.”
During his visit to Beijing last week, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb hinted that he could bring up the bonds.
