The Channel 4 series featured the reality celebrity with his mother Linda McGarry and stepfather Pete McGarry, who passed away in 2021 at the age of 71.
According to reports, Gilbey passed away on Wednesday after an incident at work.
“George was a part of the Gogglebox family for eight series alongside his mother Linda and stepdad Pete,” a representative for the program stated.
“At this extremely sad time, our thoughts and sincere sympathies are with the family and friends of Linda and George. The family has requested seclusion.”
According to Essex Police, they were called to an incident on Wednesday in Southend-on-Sea’s Shoebury.
“We received a report of an incident at Campfield Road in Shoebury at approximately 10am this morning (27 March), during which a man who was working at heights had fallen and sustained injuries,” a force spokeswoman stated. “The air ambulance service as well as the ambulance service were present. Sadly, the man passed away right there. “Our communication with partners, such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), will not stop. “A cordon remains in place at the scene.”
