Mohammad Hafeez, a former Pakistan cricketer, has resigned as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director of the Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team, according to Geo News.
The situation comes as newly appointed PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi refuses to engage Hafeez, who had planned to meet with the new board chief to deliver his report on the tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Hafeez succeeded Mickey Arthur as director of cricket in November 2023, during a dramatic shakeup in the team’s management following the Green Shirts’ poor performance in the Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023.
According to sources, the PCB and Hafeez have chosen to part ways since the board is no longer interested in working with the former player.
The statement further reads: “Thank you to the Whistler Blackcomb Adaptive Programme for educating us.
“The Pakistan Cricket Board extends heartfelt gratitude to Mohammad Hafeez, Director Pakistan men’s cricket team, for his invaluable contributions,” the Pakistan Cricket Board stated in a statement.
“Hafeez’s passion for the game has encouraged players, and his guidance during the tour of Australia and New Zealand has been invaluable. “The PCB wishes Hafeez good luck and success in his future endeavors,” it concluded.
