The State Bank of Pakistan declared a three-day public holiday for all Pakistani banks on Wednesday, coinciding with the nation’s hectic preparations for Eid ul Adha.
The weekly off on Saturday and Sunday falls before of the Eid holidays, so bankers will get a total of four days off.
“The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed from June 17 to June 19, 2024 [Monday to Wednesday], being public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha,” the central bank stated in a news release.
Following the announcement, all banks and other financial institutions would be closed nationwide for the specified amount of time. The commercial operations will start on Thursday, June 20, 2024.
The announcement was made one day after the federal government said on Tuesday that June 17–19 will be a three-day nationwide holiday in observance of Eid ul Adha.

Following the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon on June 7 of last week, Pakistan will celebrate Eid ul Adha on June 17.
The celebration commemorates the Hajj pilgrimage and takes place on the tenth day of Zil Hajj.
