ISLAMABAD: According to a research produced by the Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN), major political parties such as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) saw a growth in their voter base in the 2024 general elections.
On February 8, Pakistan held its tenth general election in over five years, with about 60 million residents voting to elect their representatives in the 265 National Assembly and 590 provincial assembly constituencies.
According to FAFEN, the PML-N and PPP grew their vote banks, while Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) maintained its vote bank in the elections.
“This figure is based on results from 235 NA constituencies. PTI-backed candidates received 16.85 million votes, compared to the party’s total of 16.9 million.
The PML-N boosted its vote share from 12.9 million in 2018 to 13.3 million in 2024, while the PPPP’s share climbed from 6.9 million in 2018 to 7.6 million in 2024, according to the research.
Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s (TLP) share has increased marginally, from 2.1 million in 2018 to 2.6 million in 2024.
