Women’s sports are receiving an unprecedented level of attention thanks in part to the success of basketball player Caitlin Clark.
Dan Dakich and NBA great Isiah Thomas recently spoke on OutKick’s “Don’t @ Me” about the impact of the number one pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft on the sport.
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer told Dakich, “I actually love the attention that Caitlin has brought to the WNBA, and I love the attention that women’s basketball is getting.”
Thomas expressed satisfaction with the WNBA’s notable increase in popularity and attention this season.
“The WNBA’s competitive and athletic landscape hasn’t received enough attention from the media in far too long. Every now and then, they will nod at it. However, now that Caitlin is here, and she had an amazing college experience.
and it was amazing to watch her… and you’re interested in… You want to watch it continue. I think what she’s done is fantastic, and I also think the players, WNBA, media, and marketing are all doing fantastic things.”

Although he does not think controversy is always a good thing, Thomas continued, it does promote the league’s brand.
