According to the Insolvency Service, the former Liverpool and England player executed a disqualification undertaking that prevented him from serving as a director of a company for three and a half years.
This resulted from his company, John Barnes Media Limited, not filing any corporate tax returns or paying any VAT between 2018 and 2020.
In September 2023, the Insolvency Service opened an investigation.
The company was situated in West Byfleet, Surrey, and Barnes was the only director. It claimed to provide media representation services.
John Barnes Media’s revenue from November 2018 to October 2020 was £441,798.
Nothing was paid attention to at this time.
This was the case even when the business submitted returns.
