RAWALPINDI: According to his daughter Shehrbano Qureshi on Thursday, imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi is extremely “hopeful” and believes that “justice is being done” in the nation.
After meeting her father today, Shehrbano told reporters outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail that she had also met Qureshi last Monday and that he was doing well.
The PTI representative stated, “Qureshi is very hopeful and seeing justice being done in the country.” She further added that her father’s fortitude was bolstered by the courage displayed by the six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC), who, along with party founder Imran Khan, are facing a 10-year jail term in connection with the cipher case.
Despite going through a difficult time, she stated that they still want to see a strong and stable Pakistan.
Shehrbano announced that appeals against Qureshi’s sentences in the cipher case would be considered on April 16 in relation to the case against the former foreign minister.
In the upcoming proceedings, the politician voiced optimism that the prosecution would not uncover any further justifications. She asserted that the prosecution’s tangible arguments in the cipher case have run out.
Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain of the special court had convicted Khan and Qureshi to ten years apiece in the cipher case in January.
The issue concerns claims that the former prime minister leaked information from a classified cable that the nation’s envoy in Washington, DC, delivered to the Islamabad administration.
