After Donna Summer sued Kanye West for copyright infringement, the two sides came to a compromise that will allow him to concentrate on other legal matters.
Previously, the pop icon’s estate filed a lawsuit alleging that one of Vultures 1’s compositions plagiarized the song I Feel Love without authorization.
According to court records that People reviewed, the parties “entered into a settlement agreement that is a full and final settlement of all of the claims in the action.”
Meanwhile, Billboard was informed by summer estate attorney Larry Stein that Kanye would not be allowed to access the Hot Stuff crooner’s music collection going forward.
“We did not obtain a license for the song,” the lawyer continued.
“They have agreed not to disseminate or utilize the song in any other way as part of the settlement. Thus, we achieved our goals.”
Another incident involved accusations of inappropriate behavior made by Kanye’s former assistant.
Ye, however, denied these charges, labeling them “baseless,” claiming Lauren Pisciott was let go due to her lack of qualifications, her desire for irrational amounts of money (including a $4 million annual pay), and multiple recorded instances of her lewd, insane behavior.
