The recently found black hole is located 2,000 light years from Earth and has a mass 33 times that of the sun.
After a star was observed trembling as it passed through the region, researchers working on the Gaia mission of the European Southern Observatory discovered the black hole. Gaia BH3 is the name given to it.
An astronomer from the National Centre for Scientific Research at the Observatoire de Paris named Pasquale Panuzzo stated, “No one was expecting to find a large black hole lurking nearby, undetected so far.”
