Manchester United are looking to add midfielders this summer and Aurelien Tchouameni is a choice. The Real Madrid midfielder is now on United’s list as the club gets ready for season.
Midfield is Now Focus
- After improving their attack and goalkeepers year United now want to fix their midfield.
The club thinks this area needs players, balance and stability for the long term.
Some Premier League players have been talked about. Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton are some of the options. These players have experience in the league, which United like after signing players like Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
However there are worries about Wharton’s position. His style is similar to Kobbie Mainoo, who’s close to signing a new deal. This has made United look for options abroad.
Tchouameni on United’s Radar Again
Tchouameni is not new to United’s interest. The club tried to sign him in 2022 when he left Monaco. He chose Madrid instead. Since then he has become one of the midfielders in Europe.
Even though his contract runs until 2028 Madrid might think about selling him if they get an offer. The Spanish team is expected to make changes after a season that may end without any trophies.
Money for Transfers
United’s wage structure is also changing. Casemiro and Jadon Sancho are set to leave, which will free up a lot of salary space.
There is also uncertainty around Marcus Rashford, with FC Barcelona thinking about a move around €30 million. These changes could help pay for a midfield signing.
Champions League Push Makes it Urgent
United’s good league run has made it more urgent to fix the squad. A win against Brentford would bring them closer to securing a spot in season’s Champions League.
Getting back to Europe’s competition would make them more attractive in the transfer market and strengthen their chances of landing top players, like Tchouameni.
