Margot Robbie remarks on the Oscar snub for best actress.

Actress Margot Robbie, who starred in Barbie, the highest-grossing movie of 2023, has spoken out about her Oscar rejection for best actress.

Eight Academy Awards were earned for the film, including nominations for best picture, best supporting actor, and best supporting actress.

However, her title part was disregarded, which shocked fans.

However, Robbie, who is also a producer of the film, declared on Wednesday that she wasn’t depressed.

“There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re this blessed,” the Australian actress and producer remarked during a SAG-AFTRA chat with co-stars.

“Affecting culture” was the movie’s stated goal, and Variety said that this has been the “biggest reward” that has resulted from the film’s success.

Robbie hinted that her real grievance was that Greta Gerwig, who directed Barbie, wasn’t nominated for an Academy Award for her direction. Gerwig is vying for the best adapted screenplay nomination.

“Obviously, I think Greta should be nominated as a director,” she stated. “Her actions were once in a lifetime and once in a career. That’s actually what she pulled off. But all of the movies have had a fantastic year.”

The blockbuster defied industry experts’ projections that the Super Mario Bros. Movie would be the largest movie of 2023, taking in $1.38 billion (£1.1 billion) at the box office worldwide.

Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, the movie’s best supporting actor and actress contenders, also voiced dismay at the two women’s lack of nominations.

“To say that I’m disappointed that they are not nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement,” Gosling stated last week, adding that “there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie.”

Barbie was nominated for best production design, best costume, and best original song.

“Everyone getting the nods that they’ve had is just incredible, and the best picture nod,” Robbie said.

“Our goal was to do some action that would change, influence, or otherwise have an impact on culture. And it has already accomplished far more than we ever could have imagined. And that really is the greatest benefit that might arise from this whole situation.”
