Hasan Zaigham, Pakistan’s ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, met with Imangaziev Almaz, the country’s deputy foreign minister, on Saturday to discuss Pakistani nationals’ concerns on the violent mob attacks that targeted international students in Bishkek, including those from Pakistan.
The discussion with the envoy comes after the Kyrgyz authorities declared that there were no Pakistani students lost in this week’s unrest.
Many foreigners, including students from Pakistan, were affected by the violence that broke out in the Kyrgyz capital on May 13 after an incident involving Egyptian students set off the unrest.
During the meeting with the minister, Ambassador Zaigham emphasised the need to give protection to Pakistani citizens first priority. He was reassured by the Kyrgyz minister that the situation has been under control and is now getting back to normal by the local authorities.
